PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON THE REVIEW OF THE BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND STRATA MANAGEMENT ACT

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is conducting a public consultation on the review of the Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act (BMSMA).

The BMSMA came into operation on 1 April 2005, integrating part of the Land Titles (Strata) Act (LTSA) and the former Buildings and Common Property (Maintenance and Management) Act (BCPA). It provides a legal framework for the management and maintenance of strata properties, and spells out the duties and obligations among the different stakeholders such as Subsidiary Proprietors, Management Councils and the Managing Agents.

The review of the BMSMA is part of BCA’s ongoing process of conducting regular reviews of its rules and regulations. It is aimed at improving existing provisions in the BMSMA for better transparency and governance, as well as removing ambiguities to provide greater clarity to existing provisions.

Period of Consultation
BCA has appointed an independent Third Party – Frost & Sullivan – to conduct the public consultation on the review of the BMSMA.

Members of the public and stakeholders are invited to participate in this consultation through an online survey, which will be available from 27 April – 25 May 2012.

If you encounter any technical issues during the online survey, please contact Frost & Sullivan at bmsma.feedback@frost.com.
